EAT! Festival

Posted by Adam on June 23, 2011

Many thanks to everyone who came to see the Fudge Fancies stall at the EAT! festival in Newcastle at the weekend. It wasn’t the weather that we were hoping for, but it was eased by the fantastic people who popped by the stall to say hello and pick up some fudge.

The EAT! Festival has taken place for the last five years and kicked off with The Big EAT! Weekend and runs until Sunday the 26 June. It’s aim is simple – to raise the profile of the North East as a producer of quality artisan food and drink. The event also helps develop an understanding of the “farm to fork” journey and encourages enthusiasm and enjoyment of food.

I got to meet so many local producers at the weekend and it was a great opportunity to talk about the common challenges we face and the great opportunities that we can create together. It was a very long two day festival and we were exhausted on sunday – after 18 hours on the stall and the same time again in the kitchen on Saturday night (having sold out of fudge!).

Monday was been pencilled in as a “rest day”, but we were back to the kitchen on Tuesday, working on new flavours and working with the technical and design team who are tweaking our website – the weekend was busy, but it’s going to be a busy summer indeed!

If you missed the launch of the EAT! Festival at the weekend, there’s still time to sign up to some of the fringe events (including one organised by Love Your Larder). Drop by to say hello on the FudgeFancies Facebook page and Twitter – it would be great to hear from you!
